Come and Sing Handels' 'Messiah'

Parish Church of St. Oswald, King & Martyr

Come & Sing

Handel’s Messiah

Parts 2 & 3

Sunday 9th April

Rehearsal 3.00pm

followed by tea

Performance 6.30pm.

As a change from our usual Palm Sunday performance of Stainer’s Crucifixion we will be singing the Passiontide and Easter sections of Handel’s most famous oratorio.  We will sing the following choruses:-

  • Behold the Lamb of God
  • Surely he hath borne our griefs
  • And with his stripes we are healed
  • All we like sheep have gone astray
  • He trusted in God that he would deliver him
  • Lift up your heads
  • Hallelujah
  • Since by man came death
  • Worthy is the Lamb
  • Amen

I will be using the Watkins Shaw edition but any standard edition of the work is acceptable.

Please come knowing the notes. If you are unfamiliar with the work or just want to brush up your knowledge you can hear your voice part on Cyberbass. Just key in

There is no charge but we will take a collection to help defray the expenses of providing tea and any excess will be used to support the music at St. Oswald’s

All are welcome to sing. Just turn up for rehearsal although it would help to know if you are coming. Please contact me on 01691 649933 or via e-mail at
